Cosmelan works on your skin in two ways: First, it reduces the amount of melanin produced in the skin and accelerates the renewal of the epidermis. In this way, the cosmetically unattractive melanin accumulations are broken down and your complexion becomes even again. The regulating effect of Cosmelan then ensures that the productivity of the melanocytes is inhibited and the storage of the pigment in the keratinocytes is stopped: This effectively prevents further pigment disorders in the long run.

Cosmelan treatment consists of two phases. In the first, which takes place in our clinic, your skin undergoes professional, gentle preparation and cleansing before we apply the Cosmelan mask. Depending on your skin type and the severity of the pigmentation disorder, it remains for up to twelve hours, after which you can remove it at home thoroughly. The second phase begins 48 – 72 hours after washing off the mask. You can now care for and nourish your skin yourself with the products from the Cosmelan Home Pack for a period of six months. This way you achieve optimal results and effectively counteract further pigmentation disorders in the long term.

Depending on the individual sensitivity of your skin, you may experience a mild burning sensation, redness or swelling in the first few days. These are normal skin reactions and typically diminish on their own in the first few days after starting the treatment.

Since a Cosmelan treatment is an innovative yet very gentle procedure, the first results will be visible after a few weeks.

The number of treatments depends on the severity of the pigmentation disorder and the skin type, but also on external influencing factors such as the exposure to sunlight.

Since our skin is a very sensitive organ, it reacts very sensitively even to our gentle Cosmelan treatments. Redness or swelling is normal, and in rare cases, the skin may begin to peel. These symptoms subside on their own after a few days.

Apart from possible swelling, redness or, in rare cases, peeling of the skin in the first few days, there are no symptoms and accordingly no downtime.
